Sad i didn't like it

I loved other Visconti films, but this one i couldn't grasp it.

It is a fact that i didn't understand everything that happened, but that hasn't always been an obstacle for me to aprreciate grear works of art.

I found it boring, without dramatic tension or something to care about. Was it the forecoming change that everyone was waiting for? This is a very poor motivation for me, or at least wasn't portrayed i a way that i liked. There are novels (e.g. Joseph's Roth "Radezky Mars" or several books of Stefan Zweig) that depict verges of civilation much better.

Anyway, it is just that i saw this huge praise about this film, and it feels awkward that i can't see why. Maybe in a few years i will watch it again and chamge my mind.
