Bodily Fluids

Does anyone get the "bodily fluids" monologue? Is there a deeper meaning or just pure madness?

reply

General Ripper is impotent.

reply

how does this connect to bodily fluids?

reply

Cuz he can't produce 'em.

reply

dmitri, why did it take you 4 months to reply????

reply

I missed the initial notification. :D

reply

lol :)

reply

Another interpretation (I think better) is that General Ripper never had sex and never masterbated.

reply

lol interesting, how did you come to this conclusion?

reply

NY Review of Books reviewed a new book on Kubrick.

The reviewer gave quotes on Ripper that he was afraid of giving away his precious bodily fluids to women who wanted them. Added to this his weird commie fluoridation theory, that General Ripper launched the bombers to make it safe for American orgasms 🙂.

The review states the book and movie was originally meant to be serious, but Kubrick thought it worked better as a black comedy.

reply

ah nice 1, cool infos!

reply

That's the way I always understood it.

reply

Ripper seems to have had sex with women, but "denied them his essence."

Coitus interruptus?

Condoms?

reply

Tantric?

reply

Are we sure Ripper has a personal grudge about the bodily fluids? I thought he laid it out pretty clearly he believes the International Communist Conspiracy is to pollute our bodily fluids as a group (using the water supply and Ice Cream for instance), and thus destroying our culture and society through that subterfuge.

reply

Back then, the real life John Birch Society actually did promote fears of a communist conspiracy to impurify our bodily fluid by fluridation of public drinking water. They are still around, funded by Koch money, and people still believe it.

reply

That is actually very interesting, Thanks.

reply

The scariest thing about this movie was that it was so close to reality.
