I went away to overnight camp back in the '60s and my dad NEVER showed up in a coat and tie and my mom NEVER showed up in a skirt. It was CAMP for pity's sake! I got an unintentional laugh from that scenario. Anybody else think it was funny too?
shareThings were more conservative back then, was shown to be anyway. The Cleavers, even the boys, wore suits to go out to dinner and see a football game. Real life men wearing suits to ballgames is shown in old clips of baseball games back in the day.
People wear sneakers in a wedding party, ripped jeans to award shows, and shorts to graduations nowadays. I belong back in yesteryear.

In the early '60s, when I was seven or eight, my mom would take me shopping in downtown Pasadena, California. She'd put on one of her nice dresses, and I'd have to wear slacks, a white button-up shirt, and dress shoes. My dad took my brother and me to Catalina Island just for fun, and we all wore slacks, dress shirts, and dress shoes. That's how it used to be.
