Receives Best Visual Effects instead of THE BIRDS
It's only because it was a big budget elaborate film with Liz Taylor, It was even nominated for Best Picture--for the same reason.

sharedid it really win over the birds? didn't know that. I don't know what visual effects it had, everything was real.
shareThe film has many matte paintings of the grand buildings and other grand settings. These are very well done.
shareNothing was matte in this film, it was all built and what you see was real, hence why it is the most expensive film ever made.
shareIf you thought there were no matte paintings in "Cleopatra", then you must not have a good eye for spotting them.
This should help.
