Do you think humanity went extinct?
I believe the old lady says in the film that if the bird attack theory was true, humanity wouldn't stand a chance.

I don't think they outnumber humans, or maybe they do, I'm just going by what the old lady said at the dinner, that humanity wouldn't stand a chance if they suddenly began to attack.

100 billion birds vs (if today) 7 billion humans. They definitely outnumber us.
Whether we could survive them all attacking is a different question. We have a lot of advantages and a lot of weapons which would be effective (if very destructive) including poisons, fuel-air bombs, nuclear weapons if necessary and so forth.
Guns and shotguns, of course, would be ineffective with that number of birds attacking.
If we had gone extinct then there would have been nobody left to chronicle the events for us.
shareππ noooo donβt be silly. If that happened, just get a thousand tons of bird seed in a confined area and then trap the birds. Sorted

I believe that to be generally true. However, the way seagulls own town centers these days and casual way they watch we food providing humans does worry me sometimes.
shareWe have advanced weaponery. Not to mention tracking and video equipment. And other weapons that are less advanced, like nets, and poisons, which seem to be pretty effective at trapping and killing birds.
The ability to kill a bird with our bare hands in a second. Or step on them.
Buildings and shelters which the birds would not be able to penetrate. And they would kill themselves trying too.
And mask and other protective equipment which everyone would be wearing while fighting them.
100 billion vs 7 billion maybe seem like we're grossly outnumbered. But in actuality that's just 15 birds per person. So if every adult in the world killed 50 birds, we would be fine. And not to mention that a lot of the birds numbers include penguins, flamingos, or ostriches which despite their size and speed would be pretty easy to kill.
