Significance of the gunshot?
Did Guido really kill himself or was it just symbolic?
shareI thought it was said he killed the producer?
Though, either way, to me, everything after the gunshot shows that he's triumphed in ridding himself of the movie that was a crutch and holding onto his past, making it rotten and ugly, and finally releasing both himself, his memories, and the people in his life to be free and happy. So regardless of who was shot, who dies or doesn't, I'd like to think it ultimately leads to the happiest conclusion either way.

Because I practice what I preach::
I saw that scene of him imaginaning himself killing himself so as to be free and rid of all those hostile people and their hostile interrogations. He was day-dreaming basically. He didn't really kill himself.
