Prison Break inspired by The Fugitive?
I read this somewhere that "Prison Break" was inspired by "The Fugitive".
I see some similarities, but it seems as if Prison Break splintered the character of Kimble into several different characters. Even though both lead characters--Richard Kimble and Michael Scofield--have similar personalities, similar intellects. Prison Break created a new character to play the doctor (Sara Tancredi), a new character to play the fugitive (Lincoln Burroughs)...
They did the opposite with the antagonists. Instead of creating a different bad guy for each episode, they clustered all of those qualities into a few characters who remained constant throughout the show.
TV had nothing to compete with 40 years ago, so they could do much with little, whereas today, TV shows must grab you right away and do everything in their power to keep you on the edge of your seat which I think Prison Break accomplishes. However, something is lost...I'm just not sure what it is.
