I have seen this series a long time ago. The ending was in happiness.

Yet don't remember from whom/where/when/how I've heard words that there was another version of ending of the last episode in tragedy:

Just after Kimble was released from the court, he was hit and killed by a speedy car while crossing the street.

The tragic ending was so annoyed that a lot of TV sets were smashed by audience.

Some people said NEVER heard of that, and I must have dreamt about it. It has bothered me for 40 years. Was it true? Can someone tell me please?

While the show was initially running, there were always wild rumors started. PEople would claim they had seen the final episode before it was actually shown. One popular rumor is that the final episode has Gerard found to be the killer.
