SPOILERS ending of Crack in the Crystal Ball

SPOILERS AHEAD

Just watched the season 3 episode Crack in the Crystal Ball, the one about the charlatan pretending to be a psychic who goes on TV to try to expose Kimble. I found most the of the episode to be intriguing. The guy that lived in Kimble's boarding house who was so lazy, he was a great character.

But that ending made no sense. In the last scene before the epilog, Kimble is in that park that has the concession stand. There are plainclothes cops everywhere, yet Kimble just walks away and no one comes after him.

Huh?

Are we supposed to believe that Kimble could simply blend in with the crowd and no one would be suspicious and look at him any more closely? If so, these have got to be the dumbest policemen on God's green earth.

One of the guys (whom I think is supposed to be a cop) even came right up to the phone booth that Kimble was in. Then the guy goes into the next phone booth, apparently making a genuine call, and doesn't even bother to look carefully to see if that might be Kimble!

And in the epilog, the psychic guy tells his wife they waited all day in the park and Kimble never showed up!

If I'm missing something, someone please straighten me out.

Just as every German soldier came running right out in the open so he could be shot in "Combat," "The Rat Patrol," etc., so, too, was just about every police officer in "The Fugitive" entirely clueless. I've often wondered what police officers in the '60s thought of the show. Come to think of it, Captain Dietrich and Lieutenant Gerard had a lot in common.

No one could see him (Almost, eight policemen in the park).
