The Fugitive to stop running on Me-TV?

I don't know how many people here watch the show on Me-TV but I think it's going away in Sept. I saw an advertisement for their new "The Spies Who Love Me [TV]," a new Sunday night programming block. They're showing The Man from UNCLE, Mission:Impossible, and Get Smart. I may be wrong but I think Get Smart is replacing The Fugitive. Please, somebody, tell me I'm wrong.

I don't watch the show on Me-TV since I have the complete series on DVD with the "Most Wanted" boxset from CBS, but I did hear the same thing on another forum. It won't be on Me-TV come September.

I do watch it on Me-TV and it's in a perfect spot. So, of course, they take it off.

That's my impression also. From what I see of what MeTV has in mind for the fall it looks like the entire Sunday Noir lineup is either getting canceled or being reshuffled to a much later time. They had a good thing going on Sundays. I looked forward to it. It was perfect as it was if a tad repetitive with some of their shows. Some tweaking and tuning might have been okay but they're doing away with the entire noir concept Sundays. I've done my bit on their Facebook page, e-mailed them. It's not going to change anything. They're going for spy stuff, not my cup of tea, and more color programs.

The Fugitive was a 10pm when it was on originally and it plays well in a later slot. It's a thoughtful show and that works when it's late and quiet. Once a week is fine, and I looked forward to it too. It was a nice show to end the week. I won't mind giving The Man from Uncle a look, but Mission:Impossible was a gimmick show with no characterazations and is best buried at 4am. I was a fan of Get Smart but it was also a gimmick for the times and now plays like a kid's show. It works better as an afternoon show for kids to discover. Once a show fits a slot they should just let it alone. Nothing is gonna draw big at that hour.

I agree wholeheartedly with you on The Fugitive. It was a thoughtful show indeed, as was, at its best, the Hitchcock shows, whether half-hour or hour long. Thriller was all over the place. Some shows just work better after 10-11 PM. I'm a fan of anthology or anthology-like shows (Kraft Suspense Theater, 12 O'Clock High, Route 66), which began to die off when color became the norm after 1966.

Most of the spy and secret agent shows were gimmicky, with the British ones wittier and better written. UNCLE might be fun for its first season or so. I Spy was the Cosby and Culp in exotic places with some nice looking babes show, but it seldom drew the viewer in emotionally. Mission: Impossible never did, but that was its appeal. Even the more dramatic Run For Your Life somehow doesn't do it for me the way the similarly themed The Fugitive does. When the former wasn't dramatic it played like a travelogue, while when the latter was dramatic it looked and felt like film noir.

That's right. Those late Sunday night, early Monday morning shows were well suited to their time slots, though it was sometimes a strain to stay up so late to watch them all when the episodes were good. Thriller and Hitchcock were perfect for their times slots. Those spy shows are from a certain era, lack the timelessness of the earlier shows.
