"Landscape With Running Figures Part 1" Question..

Let me state that I love both iterations of "The Fugitive", the original series and the Harrison Ford movie. While I have favorite epi's in the series, I absolutely love "Landscape with Running Figures" (parts 1 and 2). I do have an opinion-related question about part 1 of this episode:

In the initial scene, we see Kimble walking to work in the rain, in the wee early morning hours. In the second scene, we see Gerard and his wife enter a hotel. When Lt. Gerard is on the phone with Captain Nemes (sp?) he mentions that he's on a vacation with his wife (which clearly is an attempt to save their marriage).

Question: Did Gerard go on a vacation to the same destination as Kimble was, intentionally? Or was it a bizarre twist of fate? It would seem to me that if they're working on their marriage, they would want to be as far away from any Kimble destination as possible. Given the spectre of Lt. Gerard, any mention of Kimble, and he'd go running after him.

Thoughts / Opinions??

Hi, Movie_Buff_2. Thanks for your thoughtful question.

The first thing you should know is that there were THREE iterations of "The Fugitive": the two you mentioned and the 2000-2001 remake starring Tim Daly as Dr. Richard Kimble and Mykelti Williamson as Lt. Gerard.

Coincidence brought Kimble and the Gerards together in these episodes. It was a typical TV twist of fate that when Mrs. Gerard decides to become a runaway wife, she'd end up running away with her husband's quarry.

The second part of this two-episode story is the better one, IMHO.
