Parts played by more than one actor?

Other than the Doctor, the Master, and Davros, have there been any other parts in Classic Who that were played by more than 1 actor?

I forgot about Mary Tamm.

I just recently saw The Mind Robber, but I forgot about that.

Actually, I don't consider K-9 cheating. :) K-9 had different actors providing the voice. But, I guess, by the same token, you have to include Daleks, Cybermen, and other monsters all with different voice actors. The CyberController would count, too, because although the actor in the suit was the same in both stories, the voice was different for at least The Tomb Of The Cybermen. Possibly not Kilgarrif's for Attack Of The Cybermen, too.

As for Barousa, I had forgotten he was in other stories besides The Five Doctors. I am more familiar with that story because I've seen that so many times, versus just the 2 times I've seen most Tom Baker stories.

Cyberleader had two different actors, one in Revenge of the Cybermen then David Banks played the role all through the 80's.

reply

They were all different Cyberleaders.

Just like a Human army has more than one captain or colonel.

As I recall, the dialogue in Attack of the Cybermen indicated that it was the same Cyberleader as in Tomb. But I could be remembering wrong.

So this is permanence, love's shattered pride.

A Cyberleader? Or the Cyber Controller?

Cyber Controller as played in both stories by Michael Kilgaffiff

"Okay, egg on my face!"

Not at all.

Technically, it could be argued that the Controller in the ultimate "leader" of the Cybermen. 

Yes indeed.

And in between, he was also K1.

New song "Where was I?"

reply

Well, it has been over 5 years since I last saw a story she was in. Before that, last time I saw her was during my PBS run of Tom Baker stories over 25 years ago.

Plus, it's the ravages of being over 40. And my brain does marinate in antipsychotics, so...

Morbius, if you count having a voice actor and a monster actor. I can't remember if another actor plays him in the Big Finish audios.

The Doctor's granddaughter Susan. Played by Carole Ann Ford on TV and Big Finish, Jane Asher on the radio and Roberta Tovey in the films.

So this is permanence, love's shattered pride.

reply

If memory serves Sam West played Morbius for Big Finish in an eighth doctor story.

In the Macra Terror, one of the supporting characters was recast midway through the story as the original actress got another offer. So that character was played by two different people.

reply

In Abducted by the Daloids both Lina Black and Maria Vaslova played Anna.

Balotelli...Aguerooooo! I swear you will never see anything like this ever again!

reply

Is Abducted By The Daloids the same thing I've heard called Abducted By The Daleks? Basically, a low budget skin flick with knock off Dalek props in it.

reply

Yes it is. The name was changed because of a complaint by the BBC.

Let Zygons Be Zygons.

reply

I always wondered how the makers of that film got away with using the Dalek name and likenesses. Surely, the BBC or the Nation estate wouldn't have okayed its use in a skin flick.

reply

So, would a sequel featuring a Davros knock off be called Abducted By Davroid?

Or one with Cybermen called Abducted By The Cyberoids?

reply

and one featuring a Haemovore be called Abducted by the Haemorrhoids ?

I know it's not really a pun on a par with the others, but wouldn't you just hate to be grabbed by the Krynoids?

I actually toyed with posting that. :) How about Abducted By The Asteroids?

reply

I could be cheeky and mention Xoanon. :D

Anyway, I remember reading that the Commander in The Five Doctors (who shoots the Castellan) was supposed to be Maxil (Colin Baker being unavailable to take part), although since he's never named on screen, it's open to interpretation.

reply

"I could be cheeky and mention Xoanon. :D"

That is a perfectly valid choice in my opinion. 

Oh, excellent. And, I've just thought of another one: Jamie McCrimmon, as played by both Frazer Hines and Hamish Wilson in The Mind Robber. Anyone curious about Mr. Wilson should have a listen to the nice DVD commentary for that story, by the way!

reply

THE MIND ROBBER was mentioned earlier in this thread.

But you'll always have Xoanon! 

reply

Hahah! Good job Barrie Ingham was the only actor to play his role in The Myth Makers, otherwise I might have induced you to say "You'll always have Paris"!

Whatever you say, Jean-Luc!
