He needed to go. Quite frankly, his music was growing tired and stale. His peak had come in the early 70s.

We used to refer to his scores as "Dudley Simpson and His Magic Organ." It was always a relief when another composer scored a story.

I agree. As beloved as the fans think he is the problem with him doing nearly every score was that after a while they all sounded the same.
