R2 The Power Of The Daleks DVD questions

I ordered the R2 DVD of The Power Of The Daleks on Monday, but I won't get it until December as it has to imported to the US. I have a few questions about it that I'm guessing someone in R2 can answer since they should have it by now.

Initial reports were that the DVD release would not have the surviving clips that were supposed to be a BBC download exclusive. Then, I've later read the clips would be included on the DVD. Are the surviving clips on the DVD release?

Is there a Trivia Track or whatever they were called subtitle option for this release? I know in the past, surviving orphaned episodes had production notes subtitle tracks but animated reconstructions did not. Since this entire DVD release in an animated reconstruction, I'm guessing there are no production notes subtitle tracks on this DVD?

Is there a commentary track? I seem to recall reading somewhere that there was a commentary recorded, but I'm not entirely sure.

Thanks!

I have a copy but it's a present for my brother so I can't open/watch it, which is kind of killing me actually, ha. His birthday is Thursday so I will present it to him then and borrow it off him at the earliest possible opportunity. Anyway, according to the case the surviving clips are included and it does list audio commentaries amongst the special features but does not elaborate on whether there is one on each part or who is providing them. Not sure about the trivia/production notes but it does not mention them.

These are the only words I have, I'm stuck with them, stuck in them

Funny thing. My import of the R2 DVD is a Christmas gift for me from my mother. I will, though, open it when it arrives around the first week of December and test it to make sure both discs are fully readable, in case they aren't playable.

The R1 DVD is an even more interesting story. It should be coming out January 31st and my mother will get it for me for Christmas next year. However, like with the R2 DVD, I will open the R1 DVD when it comes in and make sure the discs are playable before wrapping it up and storing it away until December next year.

Yes, the surviving clips are on the DVD. There is a commentary too, although I haven't listened to it. Not sure about the trivia subtitles.

Here we go from the BBC website:

Alternate soundtrack (5.1 mix)

Animation Test Footage

Audio Commentaries on all episodes

Booklet with Production Notes

Original Camera Script

Original Title Sequence

The Power of the Daleks Animation and Photo Gallery

The Power of the Daleks Surviving Footage - BBC Store/EST only

Original Dalek Voice Session Recording (1966) DVD only

Servants and Masters - The Making of The Power of the Daleks

Alternative Telesnap reconstruction.

Looks like they've provided a booklet in the DVD case witht he trivia notes instead of the normal Trivia Track.

From a previous poster, though, the surviving footage is on the DVD. That boilerplate text is probably the text originally submitted months ago when the release was announced. It may have changed, and seems to have changed, since then.

The BR will also have a colour version.

The Black and White version is being released this weekend on BBC Store, with a DVD release coming on 21 November. It is now confirmed that a colour version will be released on BBC Store on 31st December followed by a Special Edition Bluray, containing both the Black and White and Colour versions, from 6th February 2017.

BBC America is screening the Black and White version weekly from November 19, and will make the colour version available exclusively on their digital platforms towards the end of November. From January 24, 2017 both versions of the story will be available on a Region 1 DVD, exclusively at Barnes & Noble.

So the fans will have to shell out twice.

It may be an exclusive release at B&N on January 24th, but Amazon.com also has a pre-order of it, shipping exactly a week later.

This always makes me laugh. Fans have no choice, they each have a gun pointing at their head.

It's almost a tautology. If you don't you aren't a "real" fan.

Well, I'm not going to buy it twice. But Who fans can be pretty obsessive, and a lot of them will. And it's pretty clear the BBC expects that too.

More like the "no true Scotsman" fallacy!

Good for you. Me neither.

Their choice.

The BBC doesn't go far enough. They should release Power of the Daleks in five different covers. Fans will then buy six copies, including the one they'll take the cellophane wrapping off.

And then the BBC will say, "Hey, we made so much on this we can animate Marco Polo and Dalek Masterplan!"

Happy days.

I'll get both versions. I've always been happy to support the DVD range with my coppers, and I'm not going to start worrying about it now. If they make enough money that someone thinks it's financially viable to animate some more, all well and good. If not, then - pending any further finds - I'll close out my collection on a Blu-Ray of Power. I'd have taken that this time last year.

Happy days indeed.
