Planet Of Fire

First of all, Goodbye Turlough!
His attitude has always seemed to be better than thou, and although this is as much his serial, than the Doctor, he still rubs me the wrong way.
On the other hand, Peri!! What a welcome addition. Her and the Doctor are so good together
I found it strange, having Kemelion taken over but then it made the story line stronger
Peri was excellent in her responses to the Master.
When she decides to stay, saying 3 weeks, the Doctor could have said, no matter how long you stay we can get you home before you left, as he had done with the others.
A nice story, good use of the Master, and as the 5th Doctor, is now probably my favorite

I love this story, among the best of Fifth's too short era(Peter Davison gives a strong performance here). Excellent direction by Fiona Cumming, utilizing the Lanzarote locations well. Solid story, with Peter WynGarde excellent as Timanov, and Anthony Ainley giving his best performance as the Master...pity it wasn't his last, as intended!

Turlough grew on me eventually, but there was little for him to do, and his departure here was for the best. Nicola Bryant really shines in her debut, and her and Peter should have more time together, I quite agree.

One of my favourite 5th doctor stories and it was great they remastered it.

Turlough leaving - good
End of Kamelion - good
Redress of the console room with black panels - good
Peri in a bikini - GOOD!

I also didn't mind losing Turlough, but it was nice to see him in those shorts! 

Nice to see Peri in her bikini. 

A pretty strong story, and I agree, a bit more of 5th and Peri would have been good, also like the doctor's swanky waistcoat. nice to see him take a break from his 'costume'

I always found Peri extremely irritating tbh though not quite Mel levels of annoyance thank goodness.

Nevertheless Planet of Fire showcases Peri/Nicola Bryant's er, other, rather distracting, 'attributes' of which affords horny b@stards like me a welcome respite from her screechy voice and generally irritating persona!

Incidentally, on the '30 Years' BBC Who documentary Bryant recounted her introduction in the show wryly observing that she was "intrigued by the certain shots that were put in" (when she was in her bikini).....

Rewatching the serial (strictly for research purposes only of course) she's arguably not wrong on that score yet said "shots" are surely all the more remarkable considering the director for 'Fire was a woman (Fiona Cumming)! Hmm, I wonder if JNT was leaning over Fiona at the time and giving her some timely directorial 'recommendations' with how to shoot Nicola? 

Inappropriate innuendo and nostalgic lustful thoughts aside though the story is merely watchable (i.e. average), finally getting rid of ZX81-powered Kamelion can only be considered a positive and the shock reveal concerning the Master's predicament at the climax to episode 3 (?) is rather effective all told.
