The Two Doctors

Wow!, Where to begin?
It was nice seeing the 2nd Doctor, (Patrick) and companion Jamie (Frazer ) even if they looked a bit aged. The combination of the two of them, with Jamie and Peri, made some interesting dialog however....the Androgum... Whoever thought this made a species something to watch, scary? No, Disgusting? YES!, the mad scientist was well acted and written, although once the Sontaren made their appearance, it was a matter of time before the 2 enemies were against one another
The character Chessene, (Jacqueline Pearce) was quite good, and very attractive too, however, once she fell to the ground, licling the 6th Doctor's blood.....Vampira??
I don't remember any other Doctor actually shedding blood either, actually wounded. He did seem to heal quickly though.
The Doctor, actually killing an enemy, although sinve Androgum's are not human and I didn't really mind seeing him die, still...also the killing of the restaurant owner, a bit part, that played into Doctor's being able to kill as he left the cyanide where it was used., All in all, a pretty grim story.

I forgot to mention that on the tail end of this, is a 9 minute short called A Fix With Sontarans, in which the Doctor is joined, not by Peri, but Tegan, a nice bit of fun there, The hero of this short is a lucky winner young Gareth Jenkins, who is dressed as his hero, the 6th Doctor. Young Gareth assists in ridding the TARDIS of the 2 Sontarans a nice little skit from something called Jim'll Fixit I gather

Another one of Colin's that I like... probably helped by:
- Sontarans
- Bob Holmes
- Pat and Fraser
- Jacqui Pearce
- a slightly more toned down costume for Colin at least part of the time

could have used more interaction between the doctors but I think the story works fairly well as is

Just a heads up, you might not want to mention Jim'll fix it.... it was hosted by the leader of the BBC peadophile ring in the 70's and 80's.

THE WHAT?

reply

The paedophile ring that was operating out of the BBC in the 70's and 80's, as in lots of Dj's, kids Tv presenters and the like Using their status at the BBC to enter childrens homes and hospitals and doing things while the higher ups at the BBC turned a blind eye and kept things out of the news.

Yeah it sounds like a mad conspiracy theory but every word of it is true, look up 'operation yewtree', Operation Hydrant, Rolf Harris and Jimmy savile.

Currently there are 2,228 suspects under investigation including 99 politicians, 147 celebrities from the media and 39 from the music industry.

True indeed, alas.

In retrospect, it wasn't that big a surprise for a lot of people in Jummy Savile's case, but Rolf Harris had been very well loved. I'd been entertained by him since the early 1970s, but students of mine who hadn't even been born until the 1990s were equally upset.

So this is permanence, love's shattered pride.
What once was innocence, turned on its side.

was on the disc, no one I ever heard of anyway

Quite often hear Gary Glitter's "Rock and Roll Part II" on NFL. Couldn't happen in this country.

Balotelli...Aguerooooo! I swear you will never see anything like this ever again!

I love Two Doctors, one of my favourites. I find it's...er...biting satire very entertaining. Good, nasty fun.

i quite enjoyed seeing the 2nd doctor and jamie again, but I was sorry the restaurant owner got killed, that was sad. and i don't care much for the girl with the 6th doctor, i found her a bit boring.

reply

I think you mean the 6th doctor.

reply

if she means Peri, she started with 5, then stayed with 6
she was fiesty in the beginning, bud badly written for later

reply

yes, Colin baker is the one i meant.

reply

but I was sorry the restaurant owner got killed, that was sad.

I totally agree with this. Oddly, that's one of the minor character deaths that bothered me the most in the series.

reply

i always tended to feel most sad when a funny character died. and I thought he was very funny.

reply

Have you heard of the Season 6B theory brought forward by Terrance Dicks? It explains the inconsistencies with this and the second Doctor stories beautifully.

You might want to hold onto that DVD, the BBC are now deleting that extra off reprints. While I'm not a Saville fan I hate the BBC censoring their history. They did the same thing with Rolf Harris in Goodnight Sweetheart which is a shame as it's quite a funny scene. Stupid BBC. 
