Mixed Emotions on this.
Since I am an American, the ridiculous idea of using your PM as a villain isn't new to us over here.
Like your media, all "jokes" or using a politician are always only funny if they are pro liberal, and anti conservative.
So aside from finding that tiresome, the actual plot of a planet based on jokes quite different. The Kandy Man was silly, and not really used very well. A few sprays and he's stuck.
The Doctor again takes charge from the start, which I like and Ace, surprisingly didn't charge in guns blazing as I thought she would.
All in all, a fun story for the kiddoe's and enough liberal jokes to satisfy the older ones

I just never watched those McCoy episodes after taping them to VHS over 30 years ago! The titles even offended me with McCoy offerings; except his Dalek story! I have to laugh thinking about "Delta & The Bannermen!"  

Only my "Blake's 7" series! A friend made me a copy of all 52 episodes 10 years ago! 

easier as in allowable. Try mocking the American President or his wife, even your queen is allowed to be mocked, in certain ways

Aww, I am sad you didn't like it(now Helen A will be after me.) The story has a lot to say about happiness and conformity.

Ace, surprisingly didn't charge in guns blazing as I thought she would.

One thing that was cut arbitrarily changing this from a four parter to a three parter, was Ace starting an uprising with the indigenous population who lived underground. We can see bits of it in the finished product, but she lost some story for her character.

It's reputation is kind of undeserved although it does suffer from looking cheap due to it being filmed in a studio rather than on location. I think people took the story the wrong way and thought the tackiness of the story was unintentional when it was due to the excess the story was trying to show. There are some nice moments here and there including the sniper scene. I think all the actors needed to be reigned in this story though. I've said this before but you know you have a problem when Georgina Hale is doing the least OTT acting. 
