I'm curious as to who made the audio recordings of the missing episodes of Doctor Who. Was it more than one person? Is there a list somewhere of who made what recording of what episode? I'd like to know who to thank for preserving what could easily have been irrevocably lost history.
I tried getting a copy of Wiped years ago through interlibrary loan, but no lending library in the US had a copy, or if they did, they were not loaning it out.
I have The Invasion DVD. I may load it up and check out the special features again. I haven't seen it since it was released in R1, what, 9 years ago? So, I've just forgotten about seeing it, having only seen it once almost a decade ago.
There was also a list, don't know if it's complete or not, in the production notes booklet included with the R1 Power Of The Daleks DVD. Seems someone named Graham Strong was responsible for preserving Power.
For anyone who is interested, Wikipedia has an interesting explanation of how the original theme was first recorded. It really predates the modern electronic synthesizer, so they had to cobble together little bits analog tape with various notes recorded on them. Quite a process: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_Who_theme_music
