i love this movie
it is as good as sound of music, mary poppins, and wiz of oz. it is a classic.
i think i will hate the 200+ remake because the acting is bound ot be not as good. actors today just don't have oomph. (except for 1 or 2)
Couldn't agree more. Just watched the remake and it's a total letdown. So dismayed with Gilliam and also quite shocked at the lack of love and respect paid to the fairytale genre -he has his tongue in his cheek with most of the direction, the sets were poorly and unimaginatively lit and the acting dire (with the exception of ledger as Jacob).
If only it had been offered to Guy Maddin or even Tim Burton... (Burton perhaps another sell-my-sopul-to-the-studios but at least he has total committment).
Agree with you two. Rented it for my son when he was little at Blockbuster...would love to own it on DVD.
I don't think I have ever seen a remake....never as good as the original.
I don't think the 2000 one is meant to be a remake. It is completely different.
