I know this never happened, but in the movie, didn't anyone think James and Annie would have made a cute couple? :P

I also know it never happened.... Having said that, I disagree with you. I don`t really know much about the real James, but the way he was written, he seemed pretty wishy washy, like he had no mind of his own. A strong woman like Annie could eat a guy like that for breakfast....or give him to Hellen!

Yuck, I don't think so. I suspect James was a bit jealous of Annie, which is a large part of why he teased her so much and made fun of her. It was kind of mean of James to "joke" that Annie "would be pretty except for her eyes." I think Annie was a bit stung by James' catty comment, although she mostly hid it.

Annie's mind was much quicker and more sophisticated than James.
