Unfortunately, this movie has never been released on DVD here in America. However, the BFI (British Film Institute) released a very nice DVD of this film a few years ago. It is in its proper aspect ratio (1.66:1, I believe) and features a commentary track and other extras. In order to view it, however, you have to have a multi-region DVD player. Many U.S. DVD players can be made multi-region simply by hacking into the system, and there are websites that explain how to do it. It's well worth the effort because other regions frequently get better or sooner releases of excellent foreign films. If you're a fan of British cinema, then it's especially worth the effort.
The region 2 BFI DVD can be purchased off of Amazon UK and other British e-tailers. Just make sure that you check the shipping fees. Usually, they're quite reasonable.
