Except Sue Lyon's feet (if they DID belong to Sue Lyon) weren't very pretty. Also, it forced the audience to look at that foot, the hand, the nail polish and the cotton for a long time......

The opening sequence was brilliant.It asks so many questions. Is the young woman being forced to conceed to the man or is the man at the beck and call of the young woman, quite literally "at her feet?" Who is really the one in control or isit possible both are manipulating each other?

yes, great observation, and it fits so well with the "bunch of bananas for my monkey" in the book as well as "did her daily duty".

For me it wasn't erotic at all. I think a foot might be the least erotic bodypart. I cringed when he put those cottonballs between her toes.

The opening scene was rather one of the most disgusting sequences in filmmaking. A pedophile holding and painting a young girl's toes that he's even attracted to, that's just disgusting.

Just to be clear... a pedophile is sexually attracted to prepubescent children. The actress in the film does not appear to fit that criteria. Being younger than 16 would generally present a case for statutory rape as a result of any sexual contact but I do not believe Humbert would be classified as a pedophile though the term is often misused today. He is a middle aged man sexually obsessed with a very young but attractive girl. He damages and destroys his life and the lives of others as a result.
