I wanted to kill Peter Sellers

probably the most annoying character i have seen in any movie. shame we saw him get shot in the beginning not sure why stanley chose to do that. would have been more satisfying seeing it in the end.

Sellers was incredibly annoying in this film and totally miscast . I wanted to ring his neck . His characters were so horrible that if you didn't know you'd be surprised that he was a comedian .

I haven't seen this movie in over 15 years but I remember Sellers being unusually bad in it. I blame Kubrick for this one. I think he just didn't know how to use Sellers in that role.

I’ll stick up for Sellers here... he’s an actor I don’t always get (his much-praised performance in Being There did nothing for me) but I think he’s perfect as Quilty. He, James Mason and Shelley Winters are on peak form in this film.

Same here. I really thought he was ideal in the part and preferred him to Frank Langella in the remake.

reply

I agree with the others- he was obnoxious as hell. Every one of his scenes was overlong and tiresome to sit through.

reply

He was a very normal actor.

reply

I liked him. All the cast were great.
