Charm shmarm.

I decided to watch this movie because an English prof mentioned it as a perfect example of intellectual dishonesty -- actually some literary equivalent of intellectual dishonesty, but I can't remember the term. Brain-damaged woman with mind of 10-year-old finds lasting happiness as bride. No, sorry. Imagine Clara as an actual short, pigtailed, flat-chested 10-year-old girl -- with an adult-sized LIBIDO. Sick yet?

Is anyone here who surrenders to the "charm" of this story actually married? Have a kid? You can cushion life all you want with money and lack of responsibility, but look at the history of Charles and Diana to see how far that takes you. All real marriages require sacrifice, work, dedication, maturity, things a 10-year-old doesn't have. That's why 10-year-olds only marry in "charming" movies like this but NEVER in real life!

To be fair, the novel is more serious than the movie about this, or so I've heard.
