River pirates, rushing rapids, indian attacks, stampedes, chases, shootouts, great scenery, traditional folk songs, Jimmy Stewart, Gregory Peck, Henry Fonda, Spencer Tracy, Richard Widmark, Eli Wallach, The Duke... yeah, why would anyone want to watch that?

Not at all dreary for me...rather an epic, nostalgic and intimate tale of one family's move West, excitingly photographed, narrated, and scored.
