Music Score

The music score for this fabulous film was composed by Alfred Newman. It was nominated for the Oscar but lost to the inferior score of Tom Jones. His score is considered one of the finest ever composed for a film. This movie was the one that influenced my love of movies the very most. I was a young teenager and was taken to the Music Hall Cinerama in Detroit to see it. I was completely overwhelmed by this masterpiece, having never seen anything quite like it before in the small town where I have lived my entire life. These many years later, HTWWW is still my alltime favourite and I have seen it countless times. The thrill of the river raft scene and the railway shootout still excite me and make me realize how significant this film truly is. Yes, there may be some flaws, but who cares when you can sit down and watch a movie like this. I just wish they could show this in Cinerama today so young people could see how exciting movies can be.

It's a great score, and the film has been shown in Cinerama at the Seattle Cinerama Theatre, I saw it there a few years ago. There are only three theatres in the world capable of screening 3 panel/ 3 projector true Cinerama presentations: in Seattle, in Los Angeles and in Bradford, England. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seattle_Cinerama
