shareNo this is an original more historic take on the greek tale. The new movie 300 is based on the graphic comic novel written by Frank Miller who's done work on Batman comics and the creator of the Sin City comics. The graphic novel of 300 by Miller was partly indspired by this 1962 movie but he has used his own creative devices to add more mystical and mythological elements to the new movie. It is not as accurate a portrayal of the actual event as the 1962 movie is it is a direct adaptation from the comic. And it looks amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!
