Historians have said she was an Amazon...whatever that means but she brought 5 ships to help Xerxes and during battle she captured a Greek sea captain and had him lashed to the bow of her ship. The captain didn't stand a chance and was ripped to pieces by barnacles. A bounty was put on her head by the Greeks after Xerxes was defeated. She was Greek from the Aegean islands but she hated Athens and Sparta. For that reason Xerxes didn't quite trust her but she performed well in battle only losing 2 of her 5 ships. Xerxes lost 800 at Salamis.
