Two Rode in Glorious Hi Def

This is the third John Ford film I've seen in HD, and I can't possibly imagine it looking any better. I don't know what kind of lens he used, but they must have the finest glass of any lens, because all his films look amazing. If you happen to catch this on on HDnet, besure you get it a shot.

I couldn't agree more.

Three cool things about the HDNMV channel:

1. ALL of their films are shown in the original aspect ratio. HBOHD, SHOHD, STZHD, MAXHD, TMCHD and even TCM (which isn't yet available in HD, which is absurd) frequently air films in WS HD, but you can tell that sometimes the aspect ratio is off. Not so with HDNMV.

2. Unlike several of the above (most notably ALL of the Starz HD channels), HDNMV rarely adds their logo to the lower right corner of the screen -- and when it does, it's small and very faint.

3. It's owned by Mark Cuban, best-known as the egomaniacal owner of the NBA's Dallas Mavericks. Most (or many) people know him only for that -- and think he's an arrogant jerk. But he's also a huge movie fan with the wallet to back it up via HDNMV (and HDNet). I'm fairly sure he's also the money man behind Magnolia Films.

This film may be showed on "Hi Def "channels but was not filmed in High Def. Therefore it is not a Hi Def film Just like films prior to 1954 are not anamorphic widescreen, but forced or doctored widescreen

past and current movies aren't filmed in hi-def they are converted to hi-def from film

All films, by their very nature are Hi-def. In fact you can make a strong argument that a film is naturally of higher definition than a movie produced in digital Hi-def because the resolution of the emulsion used in film stock is far finer than even Hi-def digital is. Balanced against that of course is that film is subject to various forms of deterioration over use and duplication and of course is always subject to 'emulsion swirl' which is not seen with a digitally originated source.

Wait a minute..............

It's been shown in HD and it's not even available to the public on a legal DVD yet?!?!

WTH???

Popped up this month on the Sony Movie Channel (HD); however the SMC has an incredibly annoying logo at the bottom right of the screen that lights up, shows ads, etc.
