Lotte Lenya
Did anyone notice that Lotte Lenya looked like Kathy Griffin?
She was wonderful. The only thing that could have been better is if she had sung as well. (But we did have Cleo Laine - what a treat!)
I recently read a bio book(library)on her, because as soon as i read that book cover & it stated that she had been a pre-teenage prostitute before escaping to a career as an actress and dancer i could not put it back on the shelf!!!

for some reason i kept thinking about that actress from Boardwalk Empire(Paz de la Huerta) playing her but she is probably to tall, maybe Lady GA GA?
She was marvelous in this film, almost as great as she was in THE THREE PENNY OPERA, of which her scenes (sadly) were few and far between.
And she was certainly better than she was as Rosa Klebb in FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE.
I don't know who directed that film, but it seems obvious that he instructed Ms. Lenya to "ham it up".
