Various film references

I was wondering if the film purposefully made various references to other films/film pop culture. Not only the Tallulah Bankhead reference but "Eve Worthington" and "Ferncliff". If I remember correctly, in All About Eve (another film with Bette Davis in case others didn't know), Gary Merrill's character accidentally calls Eve "Eve Worthington" instead of "Eve Harrington" and in Dinner at Eight, the Ferncliffs are constantly mentioned as they are important people and in Pocketful of Miracles, the Ferncliffs were also important people.

Is it pure coincidence?
