No Remake please!!!!

I hope they never make a remake of this wonderful horror film. They could never get someone as menacing or evil as Vincent Price to play Nicholas Medina. This is one of my favorite horror fils even though it isn't violent or bloody but it is frighning.

reply

It has been remade by Stuart Gordon (Re-animator), starring Jeffrey Combs (Re-animator) and Lance Henriksen (Millennium, Hard target and soon in Hellraiser 8)

Pretty badly too, if you ask me but that's just my opinion.

reply

When did this happen and when will it come out....

reply

Hmm, the Stuart Gordon film is pretty good, cheap but good...

reply

I thought it stunk. It shouldn't even have gotten the titel of The Pit and the pendulum. It had none of the original characters whatsoever, and none of the Pendulum scenes were even significant to the story! Oh, and it came out in 1990. Sadly, it was the year I was the year I was born.

I want to see it anyway.

reply

It should be noted that Gordon's version of 'Pit' is more an examination of the Spanish Inquisition than a Gothic horror. Aside from the character of Torquemada and a few props, the two films are nothing alike.

aw jesus yet another do not remake thread. I am going to start making threads asking do not make a do not remake thread.

don't correct people if your wrong

I woudlnt want to see a remake but i just re watched the movie and I think a kinda cool idea could be if they made a prequeal to this movie. About Nicolas' father and how he was a lunatic who tourtured people and just that whole story. Cross in the scene where he first finds out that his father is a tourturer ect. Something like that could acutally be interesting.

reply

if i give you enough money will you please do that:)

that is a really good idea

reply

Yes, that'b a good idea. What would you call it though.

Oh and of the remake, don't remake it, some remakes are really bad...People CAN not remake it. It's very unachievable. It's very hard to make it like the original or better (which would be hard to understand!). Oh, and Nicholas Medina was not evil, at the end he turned 'evil' because he went mad from all the torture he had in his life. Come on, his wife and closesest friend drove him mad and so did his childhood memories. I do not call that 'evil' I call it 'sad'. At the beginning, he was very sympathetic and kind. Even Fortunato Lucretzie from Tales of Terror was more 'evil' than Nicholas Medina, and all Fortunato did was cheat on Peter Lorre's character's wife! (For a good reason!)

That's right. Take off your hats in the presence of the patroon.- Vincent Price, Dragonwyck (1947)

I'd hate to see a direct remake of this film, but I would be open to another adaptation of Poe's wonderful story!!!

I agree!

A remake can't harm the original. If it sucks, it sucks--and people won't see it. But if it's good, wouldn't you want to see it?

reply

True but most remakes make a mockery of the original film. Halloween, TCSM, Psycho, Night of the living dead, Dawn of the dead. They usually suck cause the same plot updated and not scary. I think once a horror film is made that is a classic should never be remade because they always suck.
