Another movie with a swinging pendulum?

I really enjoyed this movie, but I recall seeing another 50s or 60s black and white thriller movie in English class with a swinging pendulum. I believe it was based off a Poe poem. Can anyone help me out?

No Virginia and it was another film not pit and the pendulum. I just remember a guy strapped down to a table and people above watching him. I think it involved some wicked doctor.

You may be thinking of THE RAVEN, a 1935 film starring Karloff and Lugosi. Lugosi is a brilliant plastic surgeon who just happens to be obsessed by Poe and has built several torture devices in his basement. Near the end, he captures the heroine's father, straps him to a slab, and starts a pendulum swinging from the ceiling (since it's the 20th Century, his pendulum is powered by electricity!)

Well, now we have two more versions of this tale, just in case you're interested

One was made in 1991, directed by Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator), and featuring Lance Henriksen as Torquemada, the grand inquisitor, and Jeffrey Combs (Also from Re-Animator), and a more recent version done in stop-motion and presented by Ray Harryhausen

Plus, there's a pendulum in Saw V
