the soundtrack

i have loved this film ever since i first saw it. my brother and i taped it off tv one year and have pretty much worn the tape out with many repeated viewings over the years. the score to this film is amazing in my book. it accompanied the film nicely and sticks in my head after seeing the film. anyone, by any chance, now of a torrent of the soundtrack or even a place where the soundtrack would be for sale fairly cheaply?

And someone did!

It's the same CD, available again for a limited time. There is also a re-recording of the complete score (including cues unused in the finished film) due out this Summer.

Thanks for the information, I have the Silva Screen Records CD issue of about ten years ago. Unfortunately, several marvelous cues were ommitted, so I actually prefer the audio cassette recording I took off a VHS copy. Will have to go to Intrada.com for info on the new recording. I wonder if they are doing it?
They were the ones that produced the marvelous re-recording of Jason & the Argonauts. Will have more....oh, by the way....the DVD issue is superb...!!

The re-recording will be released through Screen Archives (http://www.screenarchives.com). The recording is finished, and it's due for release later this summer. It will include all the missing cues from the film, as well as some that never made it into the finished film. I'm looking forward to it, definitely! (BTW, the same team are also doing Herrmann's complete Fahrenheit 451.)

Thanks to Youtube, there are now literally dozens (hundreds) of Bernard Herrmann tracks available for listening and re-listening, for free.

Try the keywords "mysterious island balloon" or any other number of keywords. You can find the actual MI movie soundtrack, plus BH's Hitchock scores, Citizen Kane, Ghost and Mrs. Muir, Day the Earth Stood Still, Jason and the Argonauts, Seventh Voyage of Sinbad, Taxi Driver, yatta yatta yatta.

Other combinations of keywords bring up re-recordings, other BH movie scores, etc.

Happy youtubing.
