Tony Randall

By FAR the best character in this movie is Peter Ramsay played by the late great Tony Randall.

He really does have the best lines:

On discussing his father:

Ramsay: You don't seem to realise how much he dominated me. Just once I answered back to him, Just once. He cut a switch from a tree and gave me such a whipping, and in front of this girl, It was a shattering experience.

Webster: Pete, all kids get whippings

Ramsay: But I was 25, the girl was my fiancé.

I creased up at that beaut.

Yeah, Tony Randall's so brilliant in these films. He & Rock work so well together. I remember when I went to see "Down With Love" (obvious rip-off of these & certainly not as good, but still a fun film) & he was named in the opening credits, I went, "Tony Randall? How cool is THAT?!" & my friend looked at me in complete bemusement. He definitely still had it right until the end. RIP.

I was also impressed that the people behind DOWN WITH LOVE had the style to ask Randall to appear.

He was fun in "Pillow Talk", but they really seemed to beef up his character here with a more substantial and comic character and he added a lot to the film with his comic turn. One of his very best!

Randal was wonderful

I like the way that you never know whether he is being innocent or sarcastic in his films.
