I bet I knew what Jim's last thoughts in the film were (spoiler)
As the two were driving off the bridge right into the water, I'm sure Jim thought to himself:
"Damn, I should have never stuck my d*ck into her!"

Although I'm certain that your post is very astute and perceptive, I have to disagree. I believe Jim would be thinking something like, "Why'd I get into a car with a woman who tried to shoot and kill me a few months ago?"
I doubt that he gave his dick a second thought at that moment....
Si Hoc Legere Scis Nimium Eruditionis Habes
They were "Uh-oh..." I really enjoyed Jules and Jim.
shareI bet Catherine and Jim's last words were: "Grrgl. Grrgl."
shareJim said, "Catherine, I really don't know how this three-way relationship could possibly work out."
And--as Teddy Kennedy would say decades later, when Mary Jo Kopechne told him she was pregnant--Catherine said, "Well, we'll cross that bridge when we come it."
I believe Jim would be thinking something like, "Why'd I get into a car with a woman who tried to shoot and kill me a few months ago?"Exactly. Not to mention her poor driving prior to their death. It was obvious that he shouldn't have gotten in the car with her.

She wanted to kill all of them (when three of them sat into the car) first, but probably changed her mind and spared her husband.
Listen to your enemy, for God is talking
"This is one time I wished she would have picked Jules!"
"The night was sultry."
