It is an odd line, I agree, but I love the way that he wins her heart through his letters. The love letter is a dying (or dead) art in our contemporary world of cell phones and email. There's just something about words written down on actual, tangible paper and the expectation/longing which comes with waiting for a written letter which is so deeply sexy.

um, isn't it, "your breasts are the only bombs i love."? i may be wrong... either way it's an amazing line i agree. one i'm definitely stealing. haha

It is "bombshells" and not "grenades", an unusual metaphor, but quite understandable given the context that the poet Apollinaire (who wrote that) was involved in trench warfare.
