Pussy Whipped!
SPOILER ALERT
Goodness gracious, Jules and Jim, get some balls!
I had a real problem with the film - and I truly tried to look at it from the vantage point of the era in which it was produced.
But Catherine's character was soooo unlikeable, soooo selfish and soooo spiteful that I couldn't get past that. And I have real doubts that the audience in the early 1960s thought "Yeah, I can see why those two guys are castrating themselves for her. She's a nutcase but, boy, she's all woman!".
Especially when you contrast Catherine with Gilberte. No contest.
Finally, the few times in my life when a woman has pointed a gun at me and I've been able to wrestle it from her hands, I lean towards not going for a ride with her when she's behind the wheel and there's an unfinished bridge a few yards away. Call me silly but that's just the way I am.
Anywho, just one man's opinion.
