Pussy Whipped!

SPOILER ALERT

Goodness gracious, Jules and Jim, get some balls!

I had a real problem with the film - and I truly tried to look at it from the vantage point of the era in which it was produced.

But Catherine's character was soooo unlikeable, soooo selfish and soooo spiteful that I couldn't get past that. And I have real doubts that the audience in the early 1960s thought "Yeah, I can see why those two guys are castrating themselves for her. She's a nutcase but, boy, she's all woman!".

Especially when you contrast Catherine with Gilberte. No contest.

Finally, the few times in my life when a woman has pointed a gun at me and I've been able to wrestle it from her hands, I lean towards not going for a ride with her when she's behind the wheel and there's an unfinished bridge a few yards away. Call me silly but that's just the way I am.

Anywho, just one man's opinion.

Jeanne Moreau was the sexiest woman in Europe at the time and that was reason enough for the men to have wanted to follow her despite all the problems her character caused.

As Leykis says, they should have "dumped that bitch long ago. Crumpled her up like a used kleenex and kicked her to the curb." I hated this movie. Trufuchead and Godtard created some of the most overrated movies in the '60. This one is no exception.

reply

Well Godard anyway... Breathless was absolutely average. Nice camera effort, but nothing particularly profound about it.

Last film seen: Koko: A Talking Gorilla 7/10

Completely agree with the original poster. Pussy whipped!

Yeah, she's a whore and a malcontent. Dumb bitch.

Jules and Jim themselves of course deserve pain and suffering for their being morons.

Catherine's character was supposed to be selfish and spiteful. Jules and Jim were supposed to be irrational for wanting to be with her, and rather foolish for continuing to be led around by her.

And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.

OP:

Yep...that biatch was CRAZY!!!

And Gilberte was way hotter than Catherine.
