My mum had it on a double-feature DVD with "She Gods From Shark Reef" (God knows how or why) and gave it to me, as it reminded her of Bogart (who I adore).

Fsvorite part: In the beginning when he eats the paper with the message and puts on a mustache and sunglasses.

I showed it to my sister and her friends, and now they're in love with it.

I thought it was pure good fun. The captain reminded me of a cross between Humphrey Bogart and Dean Martin. And the narration was so corny and full of cliches that it was obviously a send-up. Especially as the secret agent seems to be the most clueless one aboard. That quote about the dusk is top-class fun.

And I loved the idea that the gangster tries to pretend there's a sea monster, only to have it come true as a cool twist.

Not a serious film; but as pure tongue-in-cheek escapist fun it's a hoot!
