Is Roger Corman the Smiling Man at Telephone?

A couple of posters have referred to a Roger Corman cameo in this movie, suggesting that he is the smiling/laughing man who is waiting outside the island phone booth while Robert Towne is making his call. However, the credits listed on IMDb indicate that this man is "Richard Sinatra."

Does anyone know for sure that the phone-booth man is Corman? Was "Richard Sinatra" an alias for Corman? Or is this, in fact, an entirely diffent actor that viewers have mistaken for Corman?

Thanks!

It was Corman. But I've seen that name Richard Sinatra in TV credits, so who knows what that means.

Thanks, Skragg, for confirming that this is Corman! (It makes an otherwise puzzling scene that much more interesting!)

Does anyone out there know why Richard Sinatra is credited, or who Sinatra is/was? Was Richard Sinatra an associate of Corman's?

He's Frank Sinatra's cousin. He's also in Corman's "Ski Troop Attack" which Roger has a small role as a German ski patrol officer who plays the part too convincingly(Though his voice was dubbed.)! There's a scene where he discovers a dead German girl and looks down at her without remorse. Roger was probably thinking, "Hmmm, a dead girl. Now I won't have to pay an extra day for a speaking part with S.A.G."

Roger is also in "The Day the World Ended." Look closely at the photo the lead woman holds up in her hand. He has two parts in the "Wasp Woman" as a board member and a doctor.

That Roger!

Richard Sinatra also has a pretty good role in Beast From Haunted Cave.

There's actually **two** other men in the phone scene (besides the main character).

There's a smiling guy who stands at the phone waiting for the spy to hang up.

Then there's a man with a hat and walking stick who walks past the spy as he goes along the rocks. Apparently this is an added scene(???)

I'm presuming the smiling man is Richard Sinatra, and the man in the hat is Roger Corman. Or is it the other way round???

I am - SUPERFLUOUS!!!

Roger Corman is neither the smiling man or the man in the hat. According to Corman, as quoted in "The Films of Roger Corman" by Ed Naha, screenwriter Chuck Griffith wrote the part of Jack for Corman to play. Corman didn't want to do it and gave the role to "would-be actor" (Corman's words) Robert Bean. In the book, Bean is referred to as "Beam", both in Corman's remarks and in the cast list for the movie.

I just saw this movie for the first time a few weeks ago. I didn't spot Corman, or hear his distinctive voice. So if he took on any other role after ditching Jack, his appearance got by me.
