Missing Scenes

On Private Screenings on TCM Shirley MaClaine said that several scenes of her character taking care of Audrey Hepburn's character were cut. I wonder if the missing scenes are still in a vault somewhere.

I was just telling my mom about Shirley saying in the Celluloid closet that they cut a bunch of scenes. She asked if they were available anywhere because wouldn’t it be neat if they could re-cut the movie with those scenes back. Of course I doubt even if the scenes still exist, that they could just re-edit the movie, but that sure would be neat.

Does anybody know what’s actually in the scenes that were cut? Like actual descriptions other than they apparently showed more of Martha’s hidden love for Karen.

Shirley said some of it was her character ironing Audrey's clothes and stuff like that.

reply

Oh okay. Well that's not all that exciting, lol.

She's said that there was one scene of Martha brushing Karen's hair, one of Martha "lovingly caressing and pressing Karen's slacks" and one of Martha baking a chocolate cake for Karen and being super-proud of it because she knew that Karen loved chocolate.

There was also a courtroom scene missing where they are accused of having "sinful sexual knowledge" of each other. There was a shot of it in "The Celluloid Closet" book published back in the late 1970s. I'd love to see those deleted scenes too--but it's doubtful if they still exist.
