I want to kill Mary while watching this movie.

I have a strong feeling and I wish it was a horror film then Audrey and Shirley became witches and kill Mary in the end.

and I am curious is the child who play"Mary" still acting today?

anyway, she success in this role , remarkable, annoying, frustfrating.

And I Love Audrey and Shirley in this film.... excellent performances.

Sorry for MY ENGLISH.

So I first read the original title/post and thought "wow, this person has some serious issues for wanting to kill a child." Then I watched the movie... and I'd like to sign up for the mob.

That little girl needs to not exist. Growing up, I knew kids like that. Even more disappointing are the adults that believe these children. I never did understand why adults believe the word of a child who still thinks there are monsters in the closet.

Oh, yes, what an obnoxious, hateful character. It's a toss-up which one is worse -- Mary in this movie or Rhoda in "The Bad Seed."

I know! I have never wanted to strangle a child so much in my life!

Saw it for the first time today. The black and white thing caught me at first then I got caught up in the story line and thought while watching 'Mary', "what kind of devil child is this". I wanted to slap the *^$# out of her...hoped maybe the other character would wait 'til she went to sleep and go across the bedroom and sucker punch her in the eye. lol

That little girl was great! I agree with you. She captured that hateful/jealous/calculating little girl role to a tee. We've all known girls like that, and she was wonderful

Like someone else pointed out, Mary and Rhoda (from 'Bad Seed') are the best bad kids ever.

"I love corn!"

reply

hahahahahaha. I'm not the only one. I said to myself, "Give that child an award. AND GET HER OFF THE STAGE IMMEDIATELY!"

Ah, little Rhoda Penmark...
Are you aware that the novel didn't have a happy ending? It's worth a read, as is a novel by Taylor Caldwell called Wicked Angel if born-bad children interest you.

reply

Mary didn't kill anyone (not directly, anyway) but I *still* like Rhoda Penmark better than I like HER! Rhoda was *beep* up. Mary was just a lazy, lying, manipulative bully. I felt so bad for Veronica Cartwright's character!

God save Donald Duck, vaudeville and variety

I felt bad for her, too. Poor kid. One hopes the parents of real-life such children seek professional help for their kleptomania.

LOL--I'm a big Taylor Caldwell fan.

I always hoped Rosalie would smack her in the face.

There's something about Mary: a cringe-worthy performance. And of course Karen Balkin is still not acting today. Nor was she in this film.
