Aunt Lily

I found it odd that the Aunt Lily character, the washed-up Broadway spinstress, was a homophobe who was distructive to their relationship. She was practically a gay man herself.

I don't find it hard to imagine Aunt Lily as one of those women who considers gay men to be amusing and fun to go shopping with, but is seriously uncomfortable with the thought of lesbianism.

Yes, it's true some women may be accepting of gay males (my Mum being one!) but no so much for the ladies...I found it very ironic that the same women who supported me, didn't feel the same way towards lesbians...Rather sad and odd...Hopefully, things are better now...

But, Aunt Lily certainly wasn't a very nice aunt!
