Mary and Her Grandmother

Near the end of the movie Mary is at the top of the stairs as her grandmother slowly approaches her. After that it cuts to another scene. We never find out what happened to Mary. Is the scene deleted? If not, than what would you do if you were in the grandmother's shoes? What would you do if you were in Mary's shoes?

I saw that movie when I was very young in 1966 (maybe 5 or 6) and although I didn't know exactly what was going on I knew that Mary was an awful girl and that she was clearly lying. I couldn't imagine what her grandmother was going to do to her but I knew it would've been much worse than anything I had ever gotten from my parents by the look in her grandmother's eyes.

If my parent's had looked at me that way especially after they fell on the stairs I'd have fainted from fright.

Youre damn right you are. Thats the problem with all this anti behaviors. Kids were put in their place with a whupping or even a stare and they wouldnt dare talk back or be a smart ass, like the way they are now, running amuk and doing as they please. Bring back the paddling and you'll see how things will clean up!

So what mhearn, so what. Call my opinions whatever you want but remember, TCH is reel life not real life which is opposed to when such behaviors occurred the 'slave master' technique was quite effective, which in other words, it worked! Generations came and generations went but there were never any issues, blamings or excuses which I commend since they showed endurance, effort, striving and most of all RESPONSIBILITY which clearly speaks more than the wimping down of today's generation.

exeunt.

I think Mary had manipulated her grandmother her entire life with her hugs and kisses. Now she realized that there was no way she was going to hug and kiss her way out of this trouble she was in. I don't know that Mary really needed to go to a mental hospital. I think a good whipping would have been a really good start to her punishment. The grandmother waking up and realizing that Mary was a bad girl, who lies and enjoys getting others into trouble to further her own agenda would also be a good start.
