Pretty sure this is a goof - spoilers for those not seen the film

In the scene when Mary and Rosalie in the bedroom at the Tilford house, when Rosalie starts to go downstairs to tell on Mary (that she lied about the teachers), Mary reveals that she has the bracelet Rosalie stole, she dangles it in the middle of the picture, so Rosalie backs off, telling Mary she'll lie for her, as she doesn't want it revealed that she stole the bracelet. Later, when the girls and the mothers are packing up their stuff from the school, Rosalie's mother picked up the box, dropped it and there was all the stolen stuff, including the bracelet. How did the bracelet get back into Rosalie's drawer? The only way this could have happened is if Mary had given the bracelet back to Rosalie and Rosalie put it back with all her other stuff. This not likely, as Mary would keep the bracelet as "insurance" against Rosalie telling the truth. So, how'd the bracelet get back in the drawer at the school?

mhearn, no, no, no. Mary doesn't still have the bracelet. That was the point of my message. It's in the box that the mother drops. How did it get back to the school and back in Rosalie's box? But, you are right about this: even if the bracelet were not there, all the other stolen stuff would give Rosalie away as the thief. But do you understand what I'm saying now about how'd the bracelet get back into Rosalie's drawer?

mhearnm, right. Still think its a mistake. But one thing I've noticed on these boards. We movie lovers are always spotting stuff like this. Happy Thanksgiving!

At Granny's house, Mary says she'll hang on to the bracelet as insurance so that Rosalie will pretend to have seen 'something' between Karen and Martha.

Then Mary gets called downstairs and gets herself all tied up in knots with her own lies and says that it was actually Rosalie who saw what happened.

So Rosalie gets hauled down there and under the threat of Mary spilling the beans about the bracelet she lies. The deed is done. Poor Karen and Martha are 'finished' - fait a complit.

So it now no longer matters if Mary lets Rosalie keep the bracelet or not because she's got what she wanted. Rosalie has told the lie and in so doing, she has revenge on Karen and Martha.
