Mary Gives Rhoda (Bad Seed) a run for her money!
Boy, Mary was an awful little girl! She lied, black-mailed...Wow...
‘Six inches is perfectly adequate; more is vulgar!' (Prime of Miss Jean Brodie Re: An open window).

I just finished watching this movie and was thinking the exact same thing.
I had seen bits and pieces but never the beginning or end. I think I usually catch around the same time when Martha admits she has feelings for Karen. This time I caught it a little bit before when Mary was trying to convince everyone she was telling the truth and where she "heard" and "saw" everything.
That kid is evil and I wanted to see the grandma slap her when she learned the truth.
Same here when the grandma was coming for her up the stairs I was thinking "Please let us see that little brat get at least one good smack!" but they didn't but it was kind of implied by how Mary was backing up that she got it which was close enough I guess. :/ I thought it was like a demon was in that child or something, when she was blackmailing her friend that was pretty sinister.
shareI was just thinking of how she reminded me of little Rhoda. words can't really describe how revolted I was by Mary. I honestly wanted her to get her just desserts. she reminded me of a Sociopath. it wouldn't surpise me if she grew up to be an embezzler or a serial killer. she had no discerning line between right and wrong. everyone was "out to get her" and it was always someone else's fault.
~I love the rhythm it is my methoood!~

If one didn't know better, they would think your post is about The Mary Tyler Moore show! (Mary & Rhoda)
Both girls were evil, and both were brilliantly acted. While Rhoda was much more sinister, Mary was more fun to watch IMHO.
"This is a faithful saying...Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief."

Little Mary was a total sociopath. There's a scary scene when Karen is trying to get Mary to admit to her lie about the flowers. Karen gently urges her to give up the lie and come clean but instead Mary coldly stares back into Karen's eyes without a hint of remorse and says *I got the flowers by the lake.* Karen pulls back in horror realizing this child is a cold liar with no conscience. Excellent scene!
shareI HATED Mary. Detestable child.
At least Rhoda wasn't as bad a bully. If she didn't like you she'd just kill you. Rhoda had balls.
Get me a bromide! And put some gin in it!
