Standard Nuclear Era Morality

(SPOILERS) obviously!

Yet another Nuclear Era movie where sexual immorality MUST be met with death!

Just like "Butterfield 8" where Liz Taylor is killed off for being a prostitute.

I'm betting that Hollywood executives were "doing cocktail waitresses two at a time" when these two movies were made.

Yeah, the two don't have to walk off happily ever after or anything. But, killing one of them off is a bit much from an industry where people stab each other in the back at every opportunity.

I love that people were more careful about how they appeared to others back then, even though, as you say, they may very well have been carrying on a different lifestyle behind the scenes. But, the fact that people didn't flaunt it like they do today, I think indicates a level of classiness and respect for ourselves and others that we have lost as a society over the years (just listen to the way people cuss in public now and the way they act, not to mention the way they dress and carry themselves!).

All that being said, I agree that it is very frustrating that movies made in these years were so predictable because of it. Because of the code, we just knew who would die in every movie. Where's the fun in that?! I like to guess, to be surprised. And back then, there were very few surprises, movie-wise.
