Hello, I just wanted to ask if anyone knows the year it's supposed to be in the film? There is no mention to it in the film, and one would think it could be the year it was made. But the clothing, the games played etc, make it seem like it is earlier (any time 1920-1960)... Anyone's got an idea?

I realised it's pretty much implied that it is 1930. At the begining of the movie, in one of those fractured partial conversation, we hear that the freezing of the water in the ponds happened in "1928, 03 1929... It had to be 1929" and later we know that it was last year, so it has to be 1930.
And yes, it is a very strange movie, but that doesn't deprive it from being one of the best films ever, in fact, it's strangeness contributes to this.
