Were the two cops in this show bitten by a vampire and Frankenstein to become the characters on the Munsters? I think I've heard that was the story before.

Yes. Al Lewis (Schnauser) & Fred Gwynne (Muldoon) went on to become Grandpa & Herman Munster.

Did they actually have an episode where the cops were bitten by Frankenstein and a vampire to become the Munsters, or did it just happen between filming of the two shows and never shown?

BTW Schnauzer's wife had a change of career and went on to become a dietitian at an all girl school.
