It's on MeTV!

This channel has been added to our cable lineup, and I LOVE it! MeTV is giving us shows that haven't been aired for so long, if ever. For example, from 1 to 2 a.m., they're showing two episodes of "Honey West"!

From midnight to 1 a.m., they're showing two episodes of "Car 54, Where Are You?". Earlier, they showed "The Bob Newhart Show", "The Dick Van Dyke Show", "The Mary Tyler Moore Show", "The Odd Couple", "Hogan's Heroes" and more. They've also shown "Rawhide" and other vintage, hour-long series.

I was born in the early Fifties, and we had the second television in town; my maternal grandparents had the first one. So, my sister and I definitely were part of the "TV Generation". Many of these shows will seem like new ones because it's been so long since I've seen them. I'll be able to appreciate them in an adult way, along with a dose of nostalgia. AND, I can watch "The Untouchables"! I recall the night that, in the middle of an episode, my dad changed the channel, banning "TU" from our viewing ever after due to the extreme violence. I don't think he would mind me watching it now.

Who knew, when we watched these shows, that we'd have this opportunity to revisit them? We couldn't have imagined syndication and definitely not machines such as VCRs and DVDs. Back then, if you missed the initial airing then the rerun (if there even was one), you were out of luck. You had to hear from classmates what you missed out on. Let's hear it for retro channels=}

I was born in 1954 so I remember most of those classic shows. Living in the Buffalo, NY area, we had an advantage over you. We were able to pick up some of the Canadian stations like Channel 11 (CHCH) in Hamilton. We also got Channel 9 (CBLT?) from Toronto. And on clear nights, we'd pick up Channel 6 and 13 from Toronto or Channel 13 from Kitchener. So if I missed a program on one of the main networks (NBC, CBS or ABC) I'd sometimes have another chance to watch it by tuning in to one of the Canadian stations. Even though the reception wasn't as clear, it was better than being reminded by classmates over what I had missed. Long live retro TV and DVD sets!

I haven't seen "Car 54, Where are You?" since it was on Nickolodeon. I am so happy to see it on MeTV. What a great channel.
